Attention all anglers, drop what you’re doing, pack your fishing gear, book your plane ticket, and get to Rainbow Point Lodge as soon as possible! We are in the middle of yet another massive run of salmon numbering in the millions. Our season is half over and we have lots to talk about! We had a late winter with lots of extra snow pack so the river conditions, though the water has been big, has been gin clear.

Last week the group at Rainbow Point were not die hard anglers so they enjoyed their week by scenic flyouts, glacier touring, photo safaris, and eating fabulous food. What a week of fun and relaxation!

Currently, the salmon have moved far enough up stream that we are doing float trips down miles of uncrowded pristine waters catching fresh Pacific salmon. Due to the quality of the river conditions we have also been catching rainbow trout the entire season.

Because of the massive salmon run currently taking place we are expecting a tremendous fall fishery for the giant leopard trout of Lake Iliamna. The second half of our season is our busiest season this year so there will be lots to report in the upcoming weeks!

One to One. We should probably change our name to "One-on-One Lodge" because our crew of one manager, one pilot/gourmet chef, four guides and a maid nearly outnumbers our 6-8 guests. That's an intimacy you won't find in corporate-run megalodges, and we're fanatical about showing our customers a good time:

• Never thrown a fly? We'll act as your personal fishing coach, and cheer when you land your first fish.
• Veteran flycaster? We'll help you if you want help, and put you in spots so good you could be giddy by the time you leave.
• Into ecotouring? Try an Alaskan sea kayak adventure to spot the only fresh water seals in the western hemisphere, or a plane ride to see brown bears at Brooks Falls.

Trophies. We specialize in trophy rainbows, and also fish for arctic char, grayling, salmon, pike and lakers in world-renowned rivers like the Copper, Gibraltar, Moraine, American, Kamishak, and a few secret places we can't mention. This is the first designated Trophy Rainbow Trout Area in Alaska, and we also host thelargest run of sockeye salmon in the world.
